Like the Luxon/Kurzick version 2.0? I can't wait to max thoose out. Just give me a decade to contribute to the new broken favor mechanic.

Yeah, this thread really saddens me. No-one seems to even have started up the game and have a look at the new system. Because if they had, they might have noticed that approximately two out of the last five or so hours we had favor. And this isn't even prime time in one of the "strong" territories (it's late at night/early in the moring in America and early afternoon in Europe). This doesn't look like too bad a quota to me, especially since in that time everyone has favor.
One could assume Anet has taken a look at their server logs to check out at what rate people max their titles, no?
Being "forced to grind" for favor? Oh c'mon, that's just silly. People grind and max titles all the time anyway, the did so before this change and they will keep doing so for a very long time.

I've maxed out the KoaBD title and think that those of us that have taken the time to max at least 15 titles should be granted entry to Fow/UW at any time.
I have nothing more to prove to the Gods until they raise the KoaBD higher. Therefore, Balth and Grenth should recognize my accomplishments and give free access to me and my party, anytime of the day.

I completely agree, can't wait to charge people 1k each to ferry them into UW to farm ecto, who needs to run for gold, who can be stuffed farming? I'm gonna max my title and ferry people to UW for 1k because your idea is just that awesome!

Try face.
Not broken? Currently Nobody has favor. At least someone had favor before.
And europe is the closest to getting favor, so it's not that much different.
/sarcasm
Great fix.
/endsarcasm
And the biggest problem is, More people HA then max a title. So when HA was the favor changer, always some country had favor. Europe, America, Taiwan, ETC. currently, nobody has favor.
And it looks like america and eurpoe are going to get favor at the same time.

It does need to be given more time to work itself through. Anet are quite frankly not daft enough not to monitor the rate in which titles have been gained and the set number accordingly is correct.
The mechanism they have put in place does allow for tweeking of the number of titles as the title well runs dry. Our part in this process is to give accurate feedback, based on hard data so that any tweeks can be done accuratley.
It is a bizzare system tho, and personally I favor the approach used in Urgoz or the Deep, where team or individual achievements are rewarded by access as opposed to unlrelated flukes of the game. For example a complete cclear of all the quests in the UW would give your character permanent access to the UW. and the same would be the case for FoW. In other words unlock the mission and go to it any time.
We'll have to see how it pans out.

interesting idea. Maybe you could trade in X number of skill points to gain access. Like you could trade 10 skill points in to the God each time you enter? This would (maybe) incourage people to play through missions and such so they can level up and earn skill points to use to get into the Elite missions. As it is I don't have much use for skill points, as I have Legendary Skill Hunter and have bought pretty much all the skills I want.
I think that making entry tied to Titles is completely ridiculous. It makes zero sense. For this game being marketed as a one where you DON'T have to invest hours and hours of playing to be good this totally goes against that philosophy. This is promoting grinding to its upmost. I liked this game so much better without Title-reliant skills and such. I play for an hour most times, if I even have that much time. I have my fun then log out and do other things. I don't have time to grind out all these unnecessary titles.
Just open the damned Elite Areas up to everyone who reaches a certain point in the game and just be done with it. I could care less about ecto prices and shard prices, find something else to base the ridiculous game economy on.
Meh. I'm in a bad mood.

Seriously give it a chance. Anet aren't forcing you to grind anymore then they forced you to HA to get favor. The fact is: PEOPLE DO IT ANYWAY. Do you not think they didn't look at the numbers of how often these titles are obtained on average to determine how often it would be open and if that was a suitable amount. If anything it is better as the whole world benefits now instead of Europe the whole time.
And I am european! I could get into UW just about whenever I wanted, but I don't care! This system is much better then it being based on pvp battles.
Seriously stop complaining about anet fixing something that was clearly broken.

My suggestion
Ok... I've seen the new favor system in action, and, truthfully, I'm not impressed. Now no one gets to go to FoW/UW unless 20 other people max a title... even then, favor is only granted for 1 hour. If another person maxes a title during that 1 hour window, then favor is extended for 3 minutes.
Although I do agree with others that access to elite PvE areas should not be based on PvP achievments, this system makes things even more "broke" than they were before.
My suggestion for a fix... make it an individual thing. If one player maxes 5 titles, (and is ascended), then that character is allowed access to FoW/UW... permanently. If they want to make it a title grind, make it an individual effort. Each character that person "owns" will have to reach KoaBD for that character to have access. For some, like me who have 10 lvl 20 characters, this could take some time...
Although I can see the downsides of this, people not having enough time to play, 5 titles may be too easy to achieve, the grind of title farming, etc... I feel this would be a better system overall. Besides, once you get KoaBD, (which is actually very achievable), you're pretty much bored with PvE... (unless you make a new character)... give players a new challenge with permanent favor.
Although, it is a lower chance of drop rate, I can see the ToPK becoming a LOT more popular for ecto drop...

See and this is what I have a problem with.
15 titles.
Even 5 is a bit steep.
How so you'll surely ask.
Simple - most titles are one hell of a boring piece of shit.
I currently have 3 max titles on my mesmer - and I have insane problems getting more:
1. I will never max the lucky title - the only title I care about.
2. HM titles are bull. I NEVER played GW so that I ran around and KILLED everything on the map. If I could I sneaked past foes. Plus I consider HM a massive design disaster and I never take part in it unless I farm there. So vanquishing is out of the question.
3. Mapping - I absolutely LOVE visiting the most secret places in GW! The problem is that I'd much rather look at the area then walk along a wall starring it! So mapping is out of the question again!
4. PvP titles my ass!
5. Drunkard doesn't do the trick for me.
6. Sweet Tooth is very sweet! The problem is that it requires massive amounts of cash and I am having serious problems deciding on what char should be my main. IF we leave out the cash problem - this one would be fun to have.
7. Lightbringer - massive mistake on A.Net's behalf. Titles shouldn't have an influence on gameplay. That is why I refuse to turn it let alone farm it.
8. Farming the Sunspear title - prolly not gonna happen - especially since it needs to be done in HM.
9. Keys are a waste of money - another title down the drain.
10. IDing golds - I do that on my ritu. But with the amount of golds it is impossible to max it.
11. Missions + Bonuses are doable - BUT it gets insanely boring so I doubt I'd be able to force myself to do them all on ALL my chars.
12. Skill capping - boring as hell but might be doable.
So as you can see - if I want to max 15 titles I NEED to do stuff I HATE! That for me equals going out and winning HoH and winning favour that way.
Not gonna happen.
5 are doable - Survivor + 3 for the bonuses + skill capping - but even that one is a bit stretching it.
So making a connection between titles and free entry to UW/FoW is something better then the current system BUT 15 titles just isn't worth it. I'll just buy a scroll then.
5 maybe ....

The biggest problem with monitoring past titles is simple : every title gained - which would show how often titles are gained - is a title lost.
It was gained - meaning it can not be re-gained!
Yay! I've gained Legendary Survivor on 6(?) of my chars! And that just in a few months! Does that mean I'll gain additional 6 in the next few months again?
Even I am not that stupid!
And that is why monitoring past titles isn't the data they should put that much weight on. That data shows how many titles are left rather then how fast they can be gained!

There's are just to name a few...

This has to be the most original idea I have seen. Kinda weird but totally original. It keeps all this Favor nonsense within the actual realm of the Guild Wars story (so to speak), unlike Titles which really make no sense within the scope of the game. I mean really, Titles makes you "step out" of the lore/story/game of GW to accept.
To keep it "in the story" you have to do certain things for the Gods in order for them to allow you into their realms? LOVE IT!!
Reallly, this is an A+ suggestion. Ya, some say it is still a grind, BUT, I say it is a much more sensible type of grind.

prime example is right now. its been hours since ANYONE has had favor cause there are not many people going after titles atm...

for the past 3 hours... OUCH...
so. yea... OH WELL.. thems the breaks...
IDK I'm will to give it a try, but if we go several weeks and when we get it we only keep it for an hour or so a week. I think it will be a problem for more people, even anet staff... Cause remember they play too, so they will defiantly notice if all the sudden no one has favor more often then expected.
I think my Passage scroll vendor in the end game areas will get looked at as a possible fair solution if the current favor system results in no one having favor too often.

I just have to ask who in thier bright mind thought this one up? ok, ok I know we are tired of Europe ruling the world till 11 pm, but does Anet think ahead? 1.) It's gonna take a while to max titles meaning we will have an hour of Fow/UW and then no one will have favor for like 3 days. and 2.) What happens when all the ppl who care enough to spend hours of grinding run out of max titles and have none left?
oh and if you have any scrolls hold on to them, cause the price is gonna SOAR!

Yup, thats what I meant by Title well. I'm sure Anet factored the fact that titles are a finite resource, even if logically, for example all people could do is delete their 21 titled character and start again, we know in the real world that does'nt happen that often. The title well i's an obvious flaw, so i'm sure they took that into account.
